The last of us, Part II! Many of us around the world were excited, or should I say over the moon, for this game when Naughty Dog officially announced it on 3rd December 2016. But, Neil Druckmann didn’t want to announce the game so soon because he didn’t want to disappoint the fans as the game took a solid 3-3½ years to officially be released for the people around the world to play. This game is a sequel to the original game (The 1st part) where now Ellie is 19 years old, estimated by the fact/theory that tlou2 took place 5 years after (In-game).
This game has an amazing performance in motion capture by Ashley Johnson (Ellie), Troy Baker (Joel), Jeffrey Pierce (Tommy), and many more. The storyline is mainly Abby (Played by Laura bailey) trying to kill Joel and then Ellie taking revenge from Abby by trying to kill her BUT she spares Abby instead. Now, this was the storyline if to be put cheaply. Joel, in the first game, kills Abby’s father because he was trying to make a vaccine for the virus. The vaccine was derived from Ellie’s brain surgery (which she or anyone wouldn’t have survived because at that time because Ellie was just 14) because it was found out that Ellie was immune to the bites of the infected. Joel out of love for Ellie kills all the Fireflies (a militia) and Abby’s father to save her and runs away with her to safety (which is back at Tommy’s).
This new and evolved gameplay includes life-and-death stakes of Ellie’s journey through the hostile world wherein the infected or the undead, as you may call them, still exist. You will experience her struggle for survival through improved features such as high-intensity melee combat, fluid movement, and dynamic stealth. You can personalize Ellie’s capabilities by using a broad variety of weapons, crafting items, and skills. Spoiler alert for those who don’t have tlou2. There is a lot of emotional intake in this game too, especially for Joel fans, he dies. There’s only one thing I don’t understand about video game companies. They always intend to kill or make the most loved characters die. For example, in Red Dead Redemption II, Rockstar Games make Arthur die, even though there are several other outcomes based on his honor and choices.
A record-breaking of 4 million copies of The Last Of Us 2 were sold worldwide. It managed to become the fastest-selling game on ps4 as the fans had been waiting for like half a decade. The last of Us 2 has registered an 80% drop in sales after week one. Though this sounds like a huge fall for the game, it is not unusual for a major title to experience a drop in sales after its first week.
Some tips for you if you play tlou2:
· Manage your supplies: In tlou2 supplies are present but in a scarce amount, so as soon as you accumulate them don’t spend them because in the future you’ll be able to upgrade things easily and improve your guns on workbenches, etc.
· Become a stealth master: In some situations where if you open fire you’ll be jumped by people and if you just try to sneak your way past them you’ll be spotted (you can sneak around but you have to manage all your directions). Here the best option is stealth, no one will hear you when you kill someone and moreover, your path will be cleared.
· Explore every possible area, It may trigger some secret dialogues: This is important because if you do this and trigger a secret cut-scene or dialogues, you might as well enhance your knowledge because you get to know either what the character is thinking or some past/ future plans/actions.
